Overview

BCX-4678 is a small molecule inhibitor of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) polymerase enzyme, developed by BioCryst Pharmaceuticals. Identified as a clinical candidate in the mid-2000s, the compound was designed to interfere with the viral replication process by targeting the NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. While it was advanced through preclinical testing with the intent of filing an Investigational New Drug (IND) application in 2006, the program did not progress to late-stage clinical development and is no longer active in the company's pipeline.
