**BD-1047** is a selective small molecule antagonist of the sigma-1 (σ1) receptor. It demonstrates high selectivity for sigma-1 over sigma-2 receptors, and some additional affinity for β-adrenoceptors, but its principal mechanism involves sigma-1 receptor antagonism. BD-1047 has shown promising effects in preclinical models of neuropathic pain, bone cancer pain, methamphetamine toxicity, and psychiatric disorders. The drug reduces mechanical allodynia and hyperalgesia in animal models, suppressing pain-associated molecular markers such as c-Fos, p-NR1, and p-ERK in the spinal cord. BD-1047 has also demonstrated protective effects against drug-induced neurotoxicity and attenuates some acute toxic effects of methamphetamine, such as lethality and seizures, in mice. It is primarily used in experimental and preclinical studies to probe the function of sigma-1 receptors and evaluate novel therapeutic strategies for pain, neuropsychiatric, and addiction-related disorders[1][2][3][4][13][17].
