BD2 primarily refers to the second bromodomain (BD2) of Bromodomain and Extra-Terminal (BET) proteins, such as BRD2 and BRD4. This protein domain is a significant drug target, particularly for the development of BD2-selective BET inhibitors. These inhibitors aim to modulate gene expression by preventing BET proteins from binding to acetylated histones, thereby impacting various cellular processes, including those involved in cancer and inflammatory diseases. Examples of drugs targeting this domain include VYN202 and NUV-868. Additionally, 'BD2' is also used as a code name for other distinct drug candidates, such as BD-200, a multi-specific antibody targeting Trop-2 and nectin-4.
