Overview

BDB-001 + rituximab is a combination therapy consisting of BDB-001, an antibody-based complement C5a inhibitor, and rituximab, a monoclonal antibody targeting CD20 on B-cells. BDB-001 functions by inhibiting the complement protein C5a, thereby reducing neutrophil activation, vascular damage, and inflammation in autoimmune conditions. Rituximab depletes CD20-positive B cells and is commonly used as immunotherapy for various autoimmune diseases and B-cell malignancies. This combination is being evaluated for efficacy in inducing remission in patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis, particularly as an alternative or adjunct to standard glucocorticoids and cytotoxic immunosuppressives.
