**BDCA-BDC-01** is an investigational autologous dendritic-cell cancer vaccine developed by Mater Medical Research Institute for metastatic hormone-refractory prostate cancer. It is manufactured from a patient's apheresed peripheral-blood mononuclear cells by magnetic-bead selection of CD1c-positive blood-derived dendritic cells, which are loaded with HLA-A*0201-restricted peptides from prostate-specific antigen, prostate acid phosphatase, and prostate-specific membrane antigen, together with a control influenza peptide and keyhole limpet hemocyanin. The antigen-loaded dendritic cells are intended to prime tumor-antigen-specific cytotoxic T-cell responses against prostate cancer cells. In a Phase 1 study in 12 patients, intradermal or intravenous administration was generally well tolerated, with mainly grade 1-2 fever, pain, and injection-site reactions.
