Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BDNF-TPN is an investigational, blood-brain-barrier-permeable terpolymer nanoparticle formulation that delivers brain-derived neurotrophic factor to the central nervous system. It was developed in an academic preclinical program for Alzheimer's disease to protect BDNF during systemic circulation and improve neuronal delivery after intravenous administration. In APP transgenic Alzheimer's disease mouse models, BDNF-TPN produced neuroprotective signaling, reduced neuroinflammation and neuronal apoptosis, increased synaptic-plasticity markers, and improved hippocampal-dependent contextual learning relative to vehicle and free BDNF.
