BE-01

BE-01 is a recombinant alkaline phosphatase enzyme being developed by BiomEdit as a feed additive for animal health. The enzyme is designed to degrade lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which are potent inflammatory stimulants derived from the cell walls of gram-negative bacteria. By neutralizing LPS within the animal's digestive tract, BE-01 aims to reduce inflammation and promote overall gut health. The product is manufactured using synthetic biology to create genetically engineered microbial hosts that produce and secrete the enzyme at scale during fermentation, after which the enzyme is isolated and formulated for oral administration as a feed additive. This approach differs from BiomEdit's lead candidate, BE-101, which utilizes live engineered microbes for delivery.
