BEACOPPesc + oral contraceptive

BEACOPPesc + oral contraceptive is a combination therapy regimen studied for the treatment of advanced Hodgkin lymphoma, particularly in young female patients, with an attempted but ultimately found ineffective goal of fertility preservation. The BEACOPPesc (escalated BEACOPP) component is a chemotherapy regimen comprising seven drugs: * **B**: Bleomycin (day 8) * **E**: Etoposide (days 1-3) * **A**: Adriamycin (doxorubicin, day 1) * **C**: Cyclophosphamide (day 1) * **O**: Oncovin (vincristine, day 8) * **P**: Procarbazine (days 1-7) * **P**: Prednisolone (days 1-14) BEACOPPesc uses higher doses of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and etoposide than standard BEACOPP and requires G-CSF support. Cycles are typically 21 days, for 2 to 8 cycles. The oral contraceptive component consists of combined oral contraceptive pills (COCPs) containing a progestin and estrogen, administered alongside chemotherapy. The combination was investigated to see if hormonal co-treatment could protect ovarian reserve during BEACOPPesc. However, studies have shown that this combination does not effectively protect the ovarian follicle pool, with a preservation rate of 0% observed in clinical studies. Alternative fertility preservation strategies are recommended before starting BEACOPPesc.
