Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Beam Fiel ointment is a topical Ayurvedic antifungal formulation developed and marketed by Beam Hela Osu (Pvt) Ltd in Sri Lanka. It has been used for over 30 years to treat various fungal skin conditions. The formulation combines the keratolytic properties of salicylic acid (3%) with the antifungal and antiseptic actions of benzoic acid (5%). It also incorporates herbal ingredients, including Senna alata leaves and Curcuma longa (turmeric) rhizomes, in a beeswax-based emulsified base. The ointment is indicated for mild to moderate fungal infections such as tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea pedis (athlete's foot), and tinea capitis. A Phase II single-arm, open-label clinical study has been conducted to evaluate its efficacy when applied twice daily.
