Overview
**Becaplermin + bovine collagen matrix** is a combination product consisting of recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor BB (becaplermin/rhPDGF-BB) and a matrix made of type I collagen derived from bovine sources. The recombinant growth factor promotes wound and tissue healing by stimulating angiogenesis, recruiting and inducing proliferation of fibroblasts and cells involved in tissue repair, promoting extracellular matrix formation, and enhancing granulation tissue. The **bovine collagen matrix** serves as a delivery scaffold that supports cellular ingrowth and provides structural support while modulating proteases in the wound, protecting growth factors from degradation, releasing them gradually, and accelerating tissue regeneration. This combination is used for applications including chronic wound healing and bone grafting (as in AUGMENT Injectable), especially for diabetic foot ulcers and orthopedic indications such as bone defects or non-unions[1][2][3][6].
