Becaterin

Becaterin is a topical combination medication formulated with a corticosteroid, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, and an azole antifungal agent. It typically contains **betamethasone dipropionate**, **gentamicin sulfate**, and **clotrimazole**. This triple-action therapy is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory skin disorders (dermatoses) that are complicated by, or at risk of, secondary bacterial and fungal infections. Betamethasone provides potent anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by binding to glucocorticoid receptors. Gentamicin sulfate offers broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis. Clotrimazole acts as a broad-spectrum antifungal by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes.
