Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BECC (Bacterial Enzymatic Combinatorial Chemistry) adjuvant is a Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist platform developed by TollereBio. The technology utilizes enzymatic modification of lipid A, the primary immunostimulatory component of Gram-negative bacterial lipopolysaccharide, to create potent yet low-toxicity vaccine adjuvants. By tailoring the acylation and phosphorylation patterns of lipid A, BECC adjuvants can be optimized for specific routes of administration, such as intranasal delivery, and various vaccine formats, including nanoemulsions and nanoparticles. It is currently in preclinical development for a range of indications, including COVID-19, Shigella, Salmonella, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, as well as viral pathogens like HPV and HCV.
