Beclomethasone + theophylline is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used in the management of asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases. Beclomethasone is an inhaled corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictive effects, primarily acting locally in the lungs to reduce airway inflammation, decrease hyper-reactivity, and improve lung function. Theophylline is a methylxanthine bronchodilator that relaxes smooth muscle in the airways by inhibiting phosphodiesterase (PDE), blocking adenosine receptors, and activating histone deacetylase to suppress inflammatory gene transcription. This combination targets both airway inflammation (beclomethasone) and bronchoconstriction (theophylline), providing complementary mechanisms for improved symptom control in asthma or COPD[1][2][5][8].
