Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Beclomethasone 17,21-dipropionate (BDP) is a synthetic glucocorticoid and a potent topical anti-inflammatory agent. Developed by Soligenix as a proprietary delayed-release oral small molecule formulation (e.g., SGX201, SGX203, orBec), it is designed to target the gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa locally with minimal systemic absorption. The drug acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to reduce inflammation. It has been investigated for the prevention of acute radiation enteritis in patients with rectal cancer, as well as for pediatric Crohn's disease and gastrointestinal Graft-versus-Host disease (GvHD).
