Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This multi-inhaler triple therapy (MITT) regimen is used for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It consists of two separate inhalers: Qvar, which contains the inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) beclomethasone dipropionate, and Bevespi Aerosphere, a fixed-dose combination of the long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) glycopyrrolate and the long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) formoterol fumarate. Together, these three components provide anti-inflammatory action, bronchodilation via muscarinic receptor antagonism, and bronchodilation via beta2-adrenoceptor agonism. This specific combination was evaluated in the TRICOLON trial led by Franciscus Gasthuis to compare adherence and convenience against single-inhaler triple therapy (SITT).
