Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Becoril is a combination cough syrup developed and marketed by Ind Blues Pharma. It contains three active ingredients: ambroxol (a mucolytic agent), guaifenesin (an expectorant), and levosalbutamol (a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist). Ambroxol works by thinning and loosening thick mucus in the respiratory tract, facilitating its clearance. Guaifenesin acts as an expectorant by increasing the volume and reducing the viscosity of bronchial secretions, making coughs more productive. Levosalbutamol (also known as levalbuterol) is a bronchodilator that selectively stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the airway smooth muscle, leading to bronchodilation and improved airflow. Together, these components provide synergistic relief for chesty, productive coughs associated with bronchopulmonary disorders such as bronchitis, bronchial asthma, and emphysema.
