Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bedelix is an oral gastrointestinal adsorbent preparation containing 3 g of purified beidellitic montmorillonite, an aluminium–magnesium silicate clay, per sachet. It acts locally in the gut by adsorbing water, gases, bile salts, and various luminal molecules, reinforcing the mucous barrier and protecting the intestinal and gastric mucosa, which leads to reduction of bloating, abdominal pain, and discomfort in functional colopathies and other benign digestive disorders.[1][5][13] Clinically, it is used as a symptomatic treatment for functional colopathy/irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory colitis, gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease and related hiatal hernia, and gastric and duodenal ulcers, without systemic absorption.[1][5][8][9]
