Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bedinvetmab is a canine monoclonal antibody developed for the control of pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs. It is the first monoclonal antibody approved in the United States for this indication. Bedinvetmab works by binding to and neutralizing nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein involved in pain signaling and neurogenic inflammation, thereby reducing pain perception and improving mobility in affected dogs. The drug is administered as a subcutaneous injection once monthly by veterinarians. Bedinvetmab was developed by Zoetis and has been approved for veterinary use in both the European Union (since 2020) and the United States (since 2023). Common side effects include mild injection site reactions, but more serious neurological adverse events have also been reported[1][2][3][4][5][7].
