Overview

Bee venom extract, specifically the Albey product by Stallergenes Greer, is an allergen immunotherapy used for honeybee venom desensitization. In clinical trials, it has been combined with Advax, a non-inflammatory delta inulin-based polysaccharide adjuvant developed by Vaxine, to enhance its immunogenicity. This combination therapy aims to shift the immune response away from IgE-mediated allergy toward a tolerogenic IgG4 response, thereby protecting patients with a history of serious bee sting allergy from rapid-onset systemic allergic reactions. The addition of the Advax adjuvant has been shown to produce earlier, higher, and more sustained specific IgG4 responses compared to venom immunotherapy alone, with good tolerability.
