beinaglutide

Beinaglutide is a recombinant human glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP‑1) analog that acts as a GLP‑1 receptor agonist. It shares nearly 100% homology with endogenous human GLP‑1(7–36). As an incretin mimetic, it stimulates insulin secretion and inhibits glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Additional effects include delayed gastric emptying, reduced appetite, and weight loss. Beinaglutide was developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and has also demonstrated efficacy in reducing body weight in overweight or obese patients. The drug was approved by the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for T2DM in December 2016 and is recommended by Chinese guidelines for this indication[3][4][5][6]. Clinical studies have shown favorable safety profiles with common adverse events including mild to moderate nausea, dizziness, fatigue, vomiting, and appetite loss[4][5]. Beinaglutide is under further investigation for obesity and overweight indications.
