Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Beizeting (贝泽汀) is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Betta Pharmaceuticals as a biosimilar to the reference product Perjeta (pertuzumab). It specifically targets the extracellular dimerization domain (Subdomain II) of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). By binding to this specific epitope, Beizeting prevents HER2 from forming heterodimers with other members of the HER family, such as HER1 (EGFR), HER3, and HER4. This inhibition disrupts downstream signaling pathways, including the PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathways, which are critical for the growth and survival of HER2-positive cancer cells. Beizeting is approved in China for the treatment of HER2-positive early breast cancer and metastatic breast cancer, typically administered in combination with trastuzumab and chemotherapy to provide a more comprehensive blockade of HER2 signaling.
