The drug's mechanism of action involves binding to tubulin and stabilizing microtubules, which prevents their depolymerization. This stabilization disrupts the normal dynamics of the mitotic spindle, leading to cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase and subsequent apoptosis of rapidly dividing cancer cells. It is derived from the eastern yew tree (*Taxus canadensis*) and administered intravenously.
