Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Belion CR (HL151) is a controlled-release oral formulation of bepotastine salicylate, a second-generation antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer developed by Hanlim Pharm. It acts as a potent and selective antagonist at the histamine H1 receptor and inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells, providing a dual mechanism of action against allergic and inflammatory responses. The controlled-release formulation is designed to maintain therapeutic levels of bepotastine over an extended period, allowing for twice-daily dosing. It is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, urticaria, and pruritus associated with skin diseases, including pruritus cutaneus. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy and safety compared to immediate-release bepotastine besilate formulations.
