Overview

*Bellis perennis*, commonly known as the English daisy, is a medicinal plant belonging to the Asteraceae family that is utilized both in traditional herbal medicine and homeopathy. In conventional pharmacological research, extracts of the plant have demonstrated antioxidant, antimicrobial, and insulin-mimetic activities, specifically through the induction of GLUT4 translocation to enhance glucose uptake in muscle and adipose tissues. In the homeopathic tradition, it is recognized for treating soft tissue trauma, deep-seated bruising, and postoperative recovery, particularly following abdominal or pelvic surgery. Clinical trials have investigated its efficacy in preventing seroma formation after mastectomy and reducing blood loss during the third stage of labor. Furthermore, in vitro studies suggest it has osteogenic potential by upregulating markers such as alkaline phosphatase and osteocalcin, potentially aiding in bone regeneration and fracture healing.
