Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Belotero Balance is a sterile, bioresorbable, non-pyrogenic, viscoelastic, clear, colorless gel composed of cross-linked hyaluronic acid. It is an injectable dermal filler indicated for the correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the lines running from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth). The hyaluronic acid in Belotero Balance is produced by bacterial fermentation from streptococcal cultures and cross-linked with 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE) to enhance its stability and longevity in tissue. When injected into the mid-to-deep dermis, it integrates into skin tissue to provide volume replacement and smooth out wrinkles by attracting water molecules through its hydrophilic properties. The product does not contain animal-derived ingredients. Its primary mechanism is physical space-filling and hydration via hyaluronic acid’s natural affinity for water[2][5][6][9].
