Overview

beLP1-D is a postbiotic formulation developed by the South Korean company Bereum, consisting of heat-killed *Lactobacillus plantarum* (strain beLP1) mixed with maltodextrin. As a postbiotic, it utilizes tyndallized (heat-treated) non-viable microbial cells and their structural components to confer health benefits to the host. The 'D' designation refers to a standardized mixed powder formulation containing 10% active postbiotic material and 90% maltodextrin as a carrier. The mechanism of action involves the interaction of bacterial cell wall components, such as peptidoglycans and lipoteichoic acids, with host immune receptors (e.g., Toll-like receptors) to modulate immune responses and support intestinal barrier function. It is primarily marketed as a functional raw material for use in dietary supplements, functional foods, and dermaceuticals to promote immune health and microbiome balance.
