Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Beltavac Polymerized with Alternaria alternata is a subcutaneous allergen-specific immunotherapy (SCIT) product based on a glutaraldehyde-polymerized extract (allergoid) of the mold Alternaria alternata, formulated as a depot vaccine adsorbed to aluminum hydroxide for the treatment of Alternaria-induced allergic rhinitis/rhinoconjunctivitis with or without asthma.[1][4][8][13][16] Polymerization with glutaraldehyde increases molecular weight and reduces IgE-binding capacity while preserving T-cell and B-cell epitopes, enabling administration of higher allergen doses with improved safety compared with native extracts and promoting the induction of blocking IgG antibodies and regulatory/tolerogenic cytokine profiles.[2][6][7] The product has been developed and clinically studied by Probelte Pharma in Spain in non-interventional, real-world settings to assess safety and effectiveness in Alternaria-sensitized patients receiving SCIT.[1][4][8][13][14][15]
