Overview

Bemipalimab (code name TQB2223) is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting programmed cell death 1 (PD-1). It is designed to block the interaction between the PD-1 receptor on T-cells and its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby restoring anti-tumor immune responses. Developed by Chia Tai Tianqing (a subsidiary of Sino Biopharmaceutical), bemipalimab is currently being evaluated in a Phase III clinical trial (ChiCTR2600129030) as a first-line systemic therapy for patients with unresectable locally advanced, recurrent, or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The trial specifically targets patients harboring TP53 or FAT1 mutations and lacking NOTCH3 mutations, comparing the combination of bemipalimab and the multi-kinase inhibitor anlotinib against the standard of care, toripalimab plus chemotherapy.
