Overview

Bempikibart is a fully human IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin 7 receptor alpha subunit (IL-7Rα). By binding to IL-7Rα, bempikibart blocks signaling mediated by both interleukin 7 (IL-7) and thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), two cytokines involved in T cell-mediated immune responses. This dual blockade re-regulates adaptive immune function and reduces inflammation associated with autoimmune diseases. Bempikibart is being developed primarily for severe alopecia areata and moderate to severe atopic dermatitis, with ongoing Phase 2 clinical trials. The drug has received FDA Fast Track designation for alopecia areata due to its potential as a novel therapy addressing significant unmet medical needs[1][4][5][6][7].
