Overview

Bencycloquidium bromide + mometasone furoate is a combination of a muscarinic receptor antagonist (bencycloquidium bromide) and a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid (mometasone furoate) administered as a nasal spray for the treatment of moderate to severe persistent allergic rhinitis, particularly in patients with predominant runny nose symptoms. Bencycloquidium bromide reduces allergic symptoms primarily by antagonizing muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (notably M1 and M3 subtypes), leading to reduced nasal secretions. Mometasone furoate reduces inflammation by binding to and activating the glucocorticoid receptor, which results in downregulation of inflammatory mediators. The combination demonstrates superior efficacy over monotherapy with mometasone furoate alone in controlling runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing, and has been shown to significantly decrease inflammatory biomarkers with a safety profile similar to each agent alone[1][3][2][9][4][5][6][7].
