Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of bendamustine, etoposide, cytarabine (also known as ARA-C), and melphalan. It is primarily used as a high-dose conditioning regimen before autologous stem cell transplantation in patients with resistant or relapsed lymphoma, particularly non-Hodgkin lymphoma. - Bendamustine is an alkylating agent that causes DNA crosslinking and strand breaks. - Etoposide inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis. - Cytarabine is an antimetabolite that inhibits DNA synthesis by acting as a cytidine analog. - Melphalan is another alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA and prevents replication. The combination aims to maximize anti-tumor efficacy through multiple mechanisms of action targeting rapidly dividing malignant cells[1][2][3][4][5].
