Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bendamustine + methotrexate + 5-fluorouracil (BMF) is a chemotherapy combination regimen where bendamustine replaces cyclophosphamide in the traditional CMF (cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, 5-fluorouracil) regimen. This combination has been studied primarily for metastatic breast cancer (MBC). In clinical trials, BMF demonstrated significantly longer time to progression compared to CMF (8.2 versus 6.7 months), particularly in patients with prior adjuvant therapy without visceral metastases. The overall response rates were similar between BMF (44%) and CMF (40%), though BMF caused more myelotoxicities, particularly leukopenia.
