Beneuran compositum

Beneuran compositum is a vitamin B complex combination product containing thiamine (B1), pyridoxine (B6), folic acid (B9), and cyanocobalamin (B12). It is manufactured by Nycomed (now part of Takeda) and is primarily indicated for the treatment of neurological conditions such as neuralgia, neuritis, cervical syndrome, herpes zoster, and nervous exhaustion. The supplement acts as a metabolic cofactor for enzymes involved in the folate and methionine cycles, which are essential for the regulation of homocysteine levels. In clinical research, Beneuran compositum has been studied at the Landesnervenklinik Wagner-Jauregg in patients with Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and mild cognitive impairment to evaluate its effect on homocysteine and markers of immune activation like neopterin. While it effectively lowers homocysteine levels, it does not appear to significantly modulate immune activation markers in these neurodegenerative conditions.
