Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bentab Plus is an oral fixed-dose combination formulation developed by Solis Pharms, containing benfotiamine (100 mg), mecobalamin (1500 mcg), alpha-lipoic acid (100 mg), folic acid (1.5 mg), and pyridoxine (3 mg). It is primarily indicated for the management of diabetic peripheral neuropathy and other neuropathic conditions. Benfotiamine, a lipid-soluble derivative of thiamine, helps prevent vascular damage by activating the enzyme transketolase and reducing the formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). Mecobalamin, the active form of vitamin B12, promotes nerve regeneration and myelin sheath formation. Alpha-lipoic acid serves as a potent antioxidant that improves endoneurial blood flow and reduces oxidative stress. Folic acid and pyridoxine provide essential cofactors for neurotransmitter synthesis and homocysteine metabolism, further supporting nerve health and function.
