Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bengay is a topical analgesic product used for temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain. It contains three active ingredients (methyl salicylate, menthol, and camphor) that work as counterirritants by creating cooling and warming sensations on the skin. These sensations distract from pain in deeper tissues while menthol helps dilate blood vessels to improve blood flow to the affected area. The product is formulated to provide deep penetrating pain relief for conditions such as arthritis, backache, strains, bruises, and sprains.
