Benidin

Benidin is a generic formulation of benidipine, a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker marketed by Lloyd Healthcare's Porus division in India. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. Benidin is distinguished by its unique 'triple-channel' blocking mechanism, which targets L-type, T-type, and N-type calcium channels. This comprehensive blockade leads to systemic vasodilation, reduced peripheral resistance, and improved coronary blood flow. Beyond its antihypertensive effects, Benidin has demonstrated significant renoprotective properties; by inhibiting T-type and N-type channels in the renal vasculature, it helps reduce glomerular pressure and decrease protein leakage (proteinuria).
