Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Benorilate** is an orally administered small-molecule nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug and ester-linked codrug of acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol. It was developed to provide analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory activity with improved gastric tolerability relative to aspirin. Following absorption, it is extensively hydrolyzed, ultimately yielding salicylate and paracetamol; inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis underlies its pharmacology. It has been marketed for rheumatic and musculoskeletal pain and is currently listed by Hunan Zhongnan Pharmaceutical as a 0.5 g tablet for fever associated with common cold or influenza and for mild-to-moderate pain.
