Overview
Benquikium bromide is a small molecule muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist developed by Beijing Bridge Biopharmaceutical. Formulated as a nasal spray, it is primarily investigated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and postinfectious rhinitis. The drug's mechanism of action involves the competitive inhibition of muscarinic receptors in the nasal mucosa, which prevents acetylcholine from stimulating the nasal glands. This reduction in parasympathetic activity leads to a decrease in watery nasal discharge (rhinorrhea). Benquikium bromide has undergone Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutic efficacy in patients with various forms of rhinitis.
