Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a theoretical combination of five different monoclonal antibodies (benralizumab, dupilumab, mepolizumab, omalizumab, and reslizumab) that are individually approved for the treatment of severe asthma. While dual biologic therapy using combinations of two of these medications has been reported in clinical practice for patients with severe asthma who have inadequate response to single biologic therapy, there is no evidence of all five being used simultaneously as a single combination therapy. Each of these biologics targets different pathways in the inflammatory cascade associated with severe asthma: benralizumab targets the IL-5 receptor, dupilumab targets the IL-4 receptor, mepolizumab and reslizumab target IL-5, and omalizumab targets IgE.
