bentracimab

Bentracimab is a recombinant human monoclonal antibody fragment (Fab) developed as a specific reversal agent for the antiplatelet drug ticagrelor and its active metabolite AR-C124910XX. It binds with high affinity and specificity to ticagrelor and its metabolite, neutralizing their effects and rapidly restoring platelet function in patients experiencing major or life-threatening bleeding or requiring urgent surgery while on ticagrelor therapy. Bentracimab has demonstrated efficacy in phase 1, 2, and pivotal phase 3 clinical trials (REVERSE-IT), showing rapid onset of action with normalization of platelet function within minutes. The drug is not yet commercially available but has received Breakthrough Therapy Designation, Priority Review, and Orphan Drug Designation from the FDA. It was developed by SFJ Pharmaceuticals in partnership with SERB Pharmaceuticals[1][3][4][5][6][7][8].
