Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BEEZOCAINE Dental Jelly (ビーゾカイン歯科用ゼリー) is a topical surface anesthetic gel developed and manufactured by Bee Brand Medico Dental in Japan. It contains 20% benzocaine (ethyl aminobenzoate) as its active pharmaceutical ingredient. The gel is formulated for dental applications, such as reducing pain during local anesthetic injections (needle insertion), scaling, and gingival retraction. Benzocaine acts as a local anesthetic by reversibly binding to and blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve membranes, thereby inhibiting sodium ion influx, preventing depolarization, and blocking nerve impulse conduction. BEEZOCAINE Dental Jelly is characterized by its rapid onset of action (approximately 30 seconds) and a short, appropriate duration of effect (approximately 5 minutes), and it is flavored with a banana aroma to improve patient compliance, particularly in pediatric dentistry.
