Overview

benzydamine + oxolamine citrate is a fixed-dose combination therapy used for the symptomatic treatment of inflammatory conditions of the mouth and throat, as well as associated respiratory symptoms such as cough. Benzydamine is a locally-acting non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that possesses analgesic, antipyretic, and local anesthetic properties; it works primarily by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha and IL-1beta. Oxolamine citrate is a peripheral antitussive and anti-inflammatory agent that reduces the sensitivity of cough receptors in the respiratory tract and helps alleviate bronchial irritation. Developed by Angelini and marketed by Sam-A Pharmaceutical in South Korea under brand names such as Pebron and Tantum, this combination is typically formulated as a syrup or oral solution for the relief of pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and tracheobronchitis.
