Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bepanthenol Sensiderm (also marketed as Bepanthen Sensiderm) is a cortisone-free topical medical device cream developed and marketed by Bayer. It is indicated for the rapid relief of itching and redness associated with various skin irritations, including atopic dermatitis, eczema, dry skin, and allergic skin reactions. The cream employs a proprietary lamellar lipid technology containing ceramide-like lipids that mimic and integrate into the damaged stratum corneum, thereby restoring the skin's natural protective barrier. Additionally, it contains dexpanthenol (panthenol) and glycerin to provide deep hydration and support the skin's natural regeneration processes. Free from emulsifiers, fragrances, preservatives, and parabens, Bepanthenol Sensiderm is highly tolerable and suitable for infants, children, adults, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women. It has been evaluated in clinical trials, including a Phase 4 exploratory study conducted at Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital comparing its efficacy and tolerability to methylprednisolone aceponate cream in pediatric patients with mild to moderate atopic dermatitis.
