Overview

**BER-HA50-SF** is an experimental **berberine-loaded polymer-biosurfactant nanoparticle formulation** in which the small molecule berberine is entrapped in self-assembled nanomicelles formed from a **50 kDa hyaluronic acid-surfactin ester conjugate**. Based on the cited preclinical study, the HA50-SF carrier was selected because it showed favorable substitution, stability, surface activity, and intrinsic anticancer effects, and it was then used as a **sustained-release nanovector** for berberine with reported loading efficiency of about 70%. The formulation was investigated for **breast cancer**, where the combination was described as producing synergistic anticancer activity, apoptosis-related biomarker modulation, and improved selectivity in breast cancer cell models; a lactoferrin-coated version was also evaluated separately in a murine Ehrlich breast cancer model. This is not an approved pharmaceutical product and appears to be an **academic preclinical nanomedicine formulation** rather than a commercially named drug asset.
