Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This nutraceutical combination formulation, developed by Villa dei Gerani, is a multi-ingredient botanical product evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and dyslipidemia. The formulation contains 450 mg of Bergamot extract, 400 mg of Gymnema sylvestre extract (containing gymnemic acid), 30 mg of Phaseolamin (bean protein), and 10 mg of Olea europaea (olive leaf extract), totaling 920 mg per dose. Its mechanism of action is multi-faceted: Bergamot polyphenols (BPF) reduce serum cholesterol and triglycerides while improving endothelial function and vascular reactivity; Gymnemic acid inhibits intestinal glucose absorption and enhances cellular glucose metabolism; Phaseolamin acts as an alpha-amylase inhibitor to reduce the digestion of complex carbohydrates; and Olea europaea provides cardioprotective and antihypertensive effects. The combination is intended to improve glyco-lipid balance and liver function in diabetic patients with associated lipid disorders.
