Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bergastatil is an oral dietary supplement developed and marketed by the Polish pharmaceutical company Aflofarm. It is formulated as hard capsules containing a combination of two primary botanical extracts: bergamot fruit extract (*Citrus bergamia*), standardized to 60% polyphenols, and garlic extract, standardized to contain allicin. The product is intended to support the maintenance of healthy blood cholesterol levels and overall cardiovascular health. The polyphenolic flavonoids in the bergamot extract are purported to reduce LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while supporting HDL levels, potentially through the inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase, while the garlic component contributes to vascular health and cholesterol management. Bergastatil is marketed in Poland for adult use and is contraindicated for individuals taking statins or other lipid-lowering medications.
