Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Beriglobin is a human normal immunoglobulin G (IgG) preparation, purified from pooled plasma of at least 1,000 healthy donors. It contains a broad spectrum of IgG antibodies reflecting those found in the normal population and is used primarily as **replacement therapy for primary and certain secondary immunodeficiency syndromes**, including congenital agammaglobulinaemia, hypogammaglobulinaemia, common variable immunodeficiency, severe combined immunodeficiency, and IgG subclass deficiencies with recurrent infections. Beriglobin provides passive immune protection and can also transfer antibodies against hepatitis A. The main mechanism is passive immune protection by supplementing deficient or dysfunctional patients with polyclonal human IgG, restoring normal IgG levels and improving immunity. Beriglobin is typically administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection; after administration, it achieves systemic bioavailability after 2–3 days, and trough IgG levels comparable to normal adults can be achieved and maintained with regular dosing. It also has immunomodulatory effects, especially in settings outside pure replacement therapy. Beriglobin does not directly stimulate the immune system but passively provides exogenous antibodies[1][4][7].
