Overview
Berrylact is a combination nutraceutical product developed by Spey Medical and Evolet Healthcare for the support of urinary tract and vaginal health. It is formulated as oral sachets containing a unique combination of D-mannose, a probiotic blend (comprising Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus lactis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Streptococcus thermophilus), and cranberry extract (Vaccinium macrocarpon). Berrylact is primarily indicated for the prevention and management of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and cystitis. D-mannose acts as a molecular decoy that binds to FimH adhesins on type 1 fimbriae of uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC), while cranberry proanthocyanidins (PACs) bind to PapG adhesins on P-fimbriae, collectively preventing bacterial adherence to the urothelium and facilitating pathogen washout during micturition. The probiotic blend helps restore and maintain healthy vaginal and intestinal microflora, providing natural defense against pathogens.
