Overview
Bersiporocin (DWN12088) is a first-in-class small molecule inhibitor of prolyl-tRNA synthetase (PRS), developed primarily for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). By selectively inhibiting PRS, it suppresses the synthesis of collagen—a key driver in fibrotic diseases—thereby exerting antifibrotic effects. Bersiporocin has demonstrated promising safety and efficacy in early clinical trials and has received Fast Track and Orphan Drug Designations from regulatory agencies for IPF and systemic sclerosis. It is also being investigated for other fibrotic conditions such as systemic sclerosis, diabetic nephropathy, and keloid formation[1][2][5][6][9][10].
