Bertilimumab is a fully human recombinant IgG4 monoclonal antibody that binds to eotaxin-1 (CCL11), an important regulator of eosinophil function. It is being developed for the treatment of allergic and inflammatory disorders such as bullous pemphigoid, allergic conjunctivitis, allergic rhinitis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. The drug was discovered by Cambridge Antibody Technology using phage display technology and has been further developed by companies including MedImmune (now part of AstraZeneca), iCo Therapeutics Inc., and Immune Pharmaceuticals Inc.
